Pink diamonds, being exceptionally rare, are among the most expensive ones. The Raj Pink Diamond is among the most celebrated pink stones with desirable clarity and a considerable weight of 37.30 carats. The truly exceptional and sizable piece has an intense pink color. The South African stone was studied for over a year and to accentuate its features, it was later crafted by a proficient cutting master into a cushion-modified brilliant cut. Based on its research about this precious stone, the independent nonprofit Gemological Institute of America (GIA) concluded that the Raj Pink Diamond is “astonishing” and has “a very bright and ravishing fancy intense pink color”. This is what makes it rare and so important. The Pink Raj has been named thus by its current owner who prefers to remain anonymous. With its roots in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit, the term ‘raj’ can be interpreted as ‘king’.

With its worth being estimated upto $30 million, this spectacular discovery of 2015 is going to be auctioned in the Sotheby’s inaugural sale of ‘Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels’ in Geneva on November 15, 2017. Undoubtedly the most expensive stone in this color, the quality pink diamond will be the highlight of the sale.
